SKATEBOARD TRUCK KINGPIN NUT

The kingpin nut is the screw that goes to tighten all the components of your truck, tightening the screw is to make the steering of your truck less soft because the more you go to tighten the kingpin nut, the stiffer the steering will be.

We recommend that if you are a beginner, you tighten your trucks because a truck that is stiffer in steering, will give you more stability, slowly as time goes by, you will be able to untighten your skateboard trucks and start skateboarding with soft trucks .

SKATEBOARDING TRUCKS TOP WASHER

The top washer is the disc-shaped metal part that wraps around the grommet at the top of your skateboard truck, the top washer is used to return the truck to its original position after each turn (turn).

In addition the washers, ensure an even distribution of pressure over the whole truck and skateboard , some skaters don’t use the top washer nor the bottom washer to have a very soft truck in steering, but there are very few of them.

We advise you not to take them off and use them and also, try to replace them if they get damaged over time with the various blows they receive.

SKATE TRUCK TOP BUSHING

The top bushing is the first conical shaped grommet found under the top washer, the (bushings) are critical to the performance of your truck, every skateboard truck is sold and equipped with two bushings per truck.

The truck bushings, are made of materials such as polyurethane or plastic is sure they are always intact and replace them if they are damaged.

BOTTOM BUSHING

The bottombushing is the grommet that normally has a shape that is not conical but cylindrical that remains at the bottom of the truck, the top bushing is critically important to the steering of your truck.

Most brands of professional skate trucks fit grommets that have a good standard ratio for most skaters, but if you need a different hardness you can always change them.

BOTTOM WASHER

The bottom washer is the little disc that holds the bottom bushing, this metal washer will be the part most prone to knocks if you street skate and as mentioned earlier, some skaters do not use the bottom washer to have even more loose (springy) steering.

If you are a beginner leave the truck in its original position.

AXEL NUTS.

The nuts that hold the wheels screwed on are called axle nuts, and few people do any maintenance to this very delicate part of the truck.

Normally skaters after using new trucks, after a few months they are likely to throw them away and this happens because the nut i.e. axle nut has become stuck and no longer comes out.

This happens as a result of the various blows received and it becomes sometimes a real task to get it out and because of this you risk damaging the truck thread which can no longer be trimmed and in some cases you risk twisting the axle and no longer have a perfect truck.

So, a true friend’s advice is to buy wheel nuts (axle nuts) and at least every 2 months replace them if they have received blows.

The axle nut is screwed in with the wheel on using a 13 wrench or a good skate tool.

TRUCKS SKATEBOARD SPEED RINGS

In contrast, of the spacers between the wheels the skate truck speedrings should always be inserted, The major advantage is to eliminate the friction between the nut (the axle nut) and the bearing.

You are going to put the first speed ring, after the wheel (with already the bearings in it) and the second speed ring finally the axle nut that goes to close everything.

AXEL

The axle of the truck is a very important part, the axle is the iron tube cast into the ‘hanger of the truck it is in the part that comes out of the end of the hanger that the skate wheels go in.

The drilled one is used in the lightest skate trucks that is, the lightweight skate trucks have both the axle drilled and also the kingpin drilled to give your trucks a lighter feel.

A light truck is a good feeling but, it won’t make you ollie higher, remember that and keep that in mind.

TRUCK FOR SKATEBOARDING TRUCK HANGER

The hanger is the top part of the truck that wraps around the iron tube called the axle and each brand of skate truck has its own shape for the hanger.

The hanger goes all the way inside the truck pivot and locks all the skate truck rubbers together and very importantly, the hanger is the part of the truck where you are going to grind on the walls and bowl copings.

Breaking a ‘hanger is very difficult unless, you grind like crazy for months or if you jump off at least 15 ladders.

TRUCK SKATE BOARD KINGPING

The kingpin is too important because it holds the whole truck together and where you stick all the metal grommets and discs (washers).

The kingpin can be hollow kingpin i.e. drilled like the axle to give even more lightness to the truck and with a 14 wrench you can adjust the steering of the truck perfectly, the more you tighten the kingpin screw the harder the steering will be and vice versa.

If you are a beginner learn how to adjust the steering as you like, even with a complete beginner skate you will have to learn how to adjust skate trucks.

kingpin trucks

KINGPIN

Be careful every once in a while it can happen to break it and you will have to replace the kingpin with a new one and to replace it, you will have to disassemble the base plate of the truck and with the help of a hammer you will have to make the broken piece of kingpin come out and right after that, make sure you buy a new kingpin and put it back into the seat with a few strokes it will go in and you will be ready to assemble your truck.

BASEPLATE

The skate truck baseplate is the classic unmistakable baseplate that holds the kingping and the pivot that is used to wedge the hanger, this component of the truck that also serves to evenly distribute weight and stability.

PIVOT CUP

Here is the last component of the truck the pivot cup, this grommet resides in the baseplate and allows the hanger pivot to do the steering.

The pivot should always be intact and perfect, if it gets damaged change it right away and finally mount a baseplate when the wheels are large and choose the right truck size for the board width.

Finding trucks will not be a problem because your trucks must look perfect under your board.
