They can be mounted on the longboard to dampen vibration and shock. It is also important to choose the right size of screws to be able to mount everything smoothly.

A riser pad can also be used in mounting some surf skate mechanisms.

Most basepads can be made of polyurethane and you can find them in rectangular shapes. They fit perfectly under your truck and are ready to mount on your skateboards.

Each pad has a special feature. From the thinner ones that are needed to raise the street truck a little to the thicker ones.

The thick ones are used to raise the skate more when you need to ramp or do cruiser skateboarding.

SHOCK PADS AND AND RISER PADS THE DIFFERENCE

The difference between the two types of pads is definitely the material, riser pads are normally hard plastic and are mostly used by skaters who ride vert and bowl .

While shock pads are soft and are mainly used to cushion shocks from landing from gaps and to dampen ground vibrations.

Street skaters use them to make gaps and have a soft landing, while longboarders use them to have a soft, vibration-free cruising.

EXACT SCREW LENGTH FOR YOUR RISER PADS

Fitting both shock pads and riser pads necessarily involves choosing screws of the right length. With 7/8 and 1″ screws you may have problems when assembling the whole thing.

Make sure you have the exact length you need to assemble everything.
The taller the pad, the longer the screw you will need to complete the skateboard assembly.

The length of the screws for risers and shock pads from 1/8″ 1/4″ and 1/2″ are exactly the same measurements as the pads , that is, screws from 1/2″ to 1/8″.

SHOCK PADS AND RISERS FOR LONGBOARDS

Both shock pads and riser pads on the longboard have a cushioning function for shock pads and a ground clearance function for riser pads.

By raising the longboard’s center of gravity, steering will be more agile and sharp.

While mounting shock pads on the longboard prevents you from vibrations and shocks making riding even softer and smoother.

A special type of riser pads called angle pads can be mounted on the longboard that allow you to change the ‘trim of your longboard, but mounting them requires having mounting screws of two different sizes.
