T-SHIRT THE STORY OF A MYTH TO WEAR

The name given to this garment dates back to ancient times, it is called a t-shirt because it resembles the classic shape of the torso and shoulders, which is precisely a T.

The first Tee were seen in the late 1800s when undergarments separated into two parts were used.

The lower part with the underwear and the upper part which was precisely the T-shirt.

In that early twentieth century period, these T-shirts were used as part of undergarments, and the upper part was longer to be put inside the pants and protect from the cold.

This type of garment was used by workers and miners to protect themselves during cold weather.

The first proper shirt definitely dates back to the early 1900s when the U.S. Navy introduced its underwear for sailors, this underwear kit included this T-shirt that finally had no buttons of any kind and was one piece that had to be worn without being buttoned.

In the early 1900s there was also a commercial that launched the new garment, the commercial was aimed at an audience of single men. Since the shirt had no buttons or flaps to join, it did not need the wife to join or sew everything together.

At the end of the commercial The man with the mustache on the bicycle proudly wore his shirt, which he slipped on and off in a flash.

But the real boom came after the end of the World War when they were also worn in leisure time by American sailors and not just as underwear.

During the 1950s actor Marlon Brando wore a T-shirt in early Hollywood films and from then on it was used as an everyday casual garment.

The first print tee were already present before World War II for a few military personnel who could get them and in the 1960s an advertisement for a Tee produced by the “Air corps gunnery school” appeared in a famous fashion magazine named “Life.”
