The history of real skateboards starts with the two founders who are Tommy Guerrero and Jim Thiebaud. The two skateboarders skated together every day during the 80′.

The two pro skaters both skated for Powell Peralta in the legendary Bones Brigade. Who hasn’t had a Tommy Guerrero Powell Peralta? At one point Jim Thiebaud changed teams and joined Natas Kaupas to join the SMA (Santa Monica Airlines) team.

The two break away but the gap is short-lived because in the late 80′ Jim Thiebeaud with the stimulus of Fausto vitello convinced Tommy Guerrero to join them in the project of founding a new company that would last forever, a new flow for skateboarding that was changing so rapidly.

Soon after, Guerrero left Powell Peralta to found with Jim Thiebeaud the brand that everyone respects today called “Real Skateboards.”

With the Real brand they wanted to bring skateboarding back to the streets with a more Raw, real and raw culture of how skateboarding should be. And that’s how the two set to work to immediately create a great team that for three decades is always one of the strongest in the world.

And that is how Real Skateboard is founded in 1991 that will make skateboarding history.

From Guerrero’s words, the real mastermind and genius of Real Skateboards is Jim Thiebaud. But the success is definitely due to the passion that these two legends put into the project that over 30 years ago revolutionized the worldwide skateboarding market.
