KROOKED SKATEBOARDS ON-LINE STORE

Krooked skateboards, we are not talking about the latest arrivals but, a legendary brand that comes to life from the genius of living legend Mark Gonzales. The brand was founded in 2002 and has been a top seller ever since.

The brand is produced and distributed by Deluxe Distribution, the same company that produces Real, Anti Hero and Spitfire. In short, Krooked Skateboard is 100 percent American and, more precisely embodies the roots of skateboarding in San Francisco.

Krooked skateboard and Mark Gonzales have always traveled parallel. The graphics offered by the brand come from the artistic genius of Mark Gonzales.

The pro skater personally designs all the graphics for the boards that leave the factory. As for quality, the boards are produced with the best Canadian maple and exclusive concave that only Deluxe distribution can offer.

The brand has always released very important and thick videos. Of particular note are “Krooked Kronichles” from the year 2006, “Gnar Gnar” from 2007, “Naughty from 2008 and Krooked 3d one of the first skateboard videos in three dimensions.

Transworld skateboarding magazine elects Mark Gonzales as one of the most influential skaters in the entire history of skateboarding. When you buy and use a Krooked board you know you’re not on a regular board because krookeds are poppy, dry, durable, and damn good looking.

MARK GONZALES THE SKATERS ARTIST AND GENIUS

The story of “Gonz” began in the early 1980s with his career starting at the age of thirteen in the city of South Gate California and after only two years Mark Gonzales found himself skating with legends like Tommy Guerrero and Mike Vallely.

Gonz unlike other skaters had a much more modern and progressive vision of street skating i.e. unique fluid and technical skateboarding.

Early in his career Gonz was sponsored by Alva and began to become famous in America with early Thrasher magazine covers in “Beanplant” that slowly brought him into the legend he is now.

Gonzales was the first to holla the famous gap in San Francisco at the Embarcadero, that gap was named the “Gonzollie.” It is not the only gap deflowered by Mark. Gonzales first holed the famous four “Wallenberg” blocks.

The Wallenberg set is a historical spot where Gonzales opened the dances and still today many skaters try to put their mark by trying tricks that are more and more difficult, and also with Natas Kaupas they were the first to skate handrails.

It was the cover of Thrasher magazine that got Mark Gonzales sponsored by Vision Street Wear who made the first board model for Mark and that was how Gonzales became a pro skateboarder.

MARK GONZALES FROM THE 80’S TO “VIDEO DAYS”

As soon as he became pro Gonzales was already producing his first results winning many skate contests including “Oceanside street contest ” in 1985. From there in the years to follow Gonzales’ style and tricks were absolutely ahead of everyone, few people skate street like Gonzales.

In 1989 Steve Rocco formed Blind Skateboards and took the California skater on the team and soon after in 1991 Blind skateboards released the video legend “Video Days” where Gonzales is at the peak of his career. In the video he demonstrates how he in the 1980s was already a decade ahead compared to street skaters of the time.

In Video Days Gonzales performs lines and tricks with a powerful and fast style and still considered the inventor of modern street skating, Gonzales for all intents and purposes is a worldwide skateboarding icon.

The experience with Blind Skateboards was not the best and the rider decided to leave it to form his own company with his friend and fellow skateboarder Ron Chatman.

The company they formed was called “ATM CLICK,” Gonzales also created quite a bit of friction with his old sponsor Vision. He used graphics that belonged to the brand and the move did not please the group which created problems for Mark.

Gonzales after the brief adventure with ATM entered Deluxe distribution for good and with the help of Tommy Guerrero and the entire Deluxe family began making videos for Real skateboards such as “Kicked Out From Everywere” , “Non Fiction” and “Reel to Real.

Videos featuring a Gonzales who is still in great shape with still clean and innovative skating with lines in Switch and Rails made Gonzales in those years still a great street skater.
