BLIND SKATEBOARDS THE BRAND STORY

Blind is a skateboard company considered one of the top ten in the history of skateboarding. The brand completely changed the vision of street skating in the 1980s. Blind with Steve Rocco and his crew took the brand and skateboarding into a new era.

Blind skateboards was born with Mark Gonzales in 1988 and the name Blind came in response to the Vision brand that was world famous at the time.

The skateboard legend created his own brand and brought together the best skateboarders of the time. Many skaters left their old sponsors to start the adventure with Blind Skateboards. The first to join the team was Jason Lee who left World Industries and later Rudy Johnson and Guy Mariano also left Powell Peralta to join Gonzales’ team.

In addition the team initially also consisted of Jordan Richter and the legendary Danny Way w mr. Way was briefly part of the newly formed Blind team.

BLIND SKATEBOARDS VIDEO DAYS ERA AND THE 90S

In 1991 Blind released ‘video days’ with the whole team, Blind’s masterpiece was shot and edited by the legendary Spike Jonze, video days is considered the most influential skateboard video of those years.

More than 30 years later we can see the very high level of Blind’s riders, powerful street skateboarding and Guy Mariano, who at a very young age was already doing complicated and stylish tricks such as passamani, wheelies, nose blunt slides and a series of incredible combo lines.

In 1993 the brand did not stop and the team was expanded and professional skaters such as Tim Gavin, Brian Lotti, Jeron Wilson and Henri Sanchez joined the team.

Blind produced its second video introducing the new pros for Blind, titled “Tim and Henry pack of lies” a video where Brian Lotti opens the dance and Sanchez, Gavin and the rest of the crew rock out with swichstance tricks and lines that are increasingly heavy and powerful.

FROM ‘VIDEO DAYS’ TO ‘TIM AND HENRY’S PACK OF LIES’.

The second video produced by blind is not up to the standards of the first “video days” and Mike Ternasky, the producer of Plan B’s videos, states in an interview that the only quality footage is that of Tim Gavin and Henry Sanchez.

Brian Lotti in an interview 20 years later states his regret at leaving Chris Miller’s ‘Planet Heart’. He states that Planet Heart was a small family and Lotti loved to ride with them, but events caused Lotti to go to Blind Skateboards. Everything else is history.

In 1994, legend Ronnie Creager joined the Blind team, leaving Foundation to join the family. At that time Rudy Johnson, Guy Mariano,Jeron Wilson and TIm Gavin left Blind to join the Girl skateboards team. Jason Lee also leaves the brand to start his own project with Chris “dune” Patras Stereo Skateboards.
